PRESENTED AT THE INTERNATIONAL PARENTAL SEMINAR HELD ON JUNE 12 2019
It is with joy in my heart that I welcome all participants, speakers, all who have contributed in one way or the other to this epoch-making event.
This have been a routine recommendation for every academic research/ piece I carry out, the need achieve a feasible synergy between teachers and parents as well as d students
As an academic consultant, I decided to come up with this event as a give away package to the community on my birthday.
So this special guests speakers gave me a yes when I made the appeal..I salute them for standing with me to do this for free.
Brief introduction to the seminar.....
For a child, learning is a natural thing. Right from infancy, learning to grab an object, call m--m-um-y, da--da-ddd, learn to say yes on approval and no for rejection.. Every interaction you have with a child makes a difference
The first and most important relationships children experience is with their parents or primary care givers. Note that the significance of this relationship on later development is evident
The present world we find ourselves is driven by technology and information, thus there is need to train a child to harness the rudiments of such society so as to excel in it.
It is the need to prepare the Nigerian child to excel in the Digital age that gave rise to this motion of holistic development.
Holistic development of a child cannot be complete without parents being actively involved in the academic and non-academic activities of their child.
In our day-to-day activities we find ourselves busy with work, this and that, mostly go home, eat, sleep without paying attention to our child.
Corporate parents versus corporate children!
One could actually say the care-givers/ house Assistants are there for the child. Will their services do the job needed for that child to have that holistic development?!!
Teachers/Directress by virtue of their profession will render his/her services in the day while your child returns to you after school hours.
With/without your time/contribution after school hours towards your child's academics; your child will graduate, get to the next stage of education, to the next, till graduation.
The questions are:
What if that child got your parental support after school hours?
Upon graduation, is your child fulfilled?
Investing in your child's education is a huge investment. Rate yourself in terms of academic support, how well have you invested?
Have you ever noticed the feelings, facial expressions, satisfaction displayed by a child, when mummy/Daddy spares time for study at home?
Do you as a parent think it is impossible to spare time for your kid's study?
Do you wish to be guided to plan for your kid's study?
The how of the situation is about to be unveiled
Have you given up on your child, simply because of low grades?
Do you see your child/ward as a failure?
Do you wish to see your child become a star?
It's indeed an auspicious day. Be Open-minded!
But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself.John Frank
